Senior Software Developer

As a Senior Software Developer, you will be experienced in Microsoft Development Stack, manage peer code reviews and work within an agile environment with the wider project delivery team to ensure outcomes are delivered to time and software is developed to the correct quality and standards.   


Key responsibilities

In this role, you will work across a wide range of projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  In doing so you will:  

  • Take ownership and manage your own time and plan tasks with the team.
  • Work collaboratively in a team of developers to build a best practice approach to user experience for sophisticated and complex enterprise software.
  • Work with customers to review and interpret external customers' business requirements and high-level software specifications.
  • Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications.
  • Develop accurate and fully documented code that delivers the requirements of the product and complies with quality procedures.  
  • Work effectively following agile methodology to plan, review and show product development through daily stand-ups, iteration planning, code reviews and show and tells.
  • Undertake technical root cause analysis and outline corrective action for given problems.
  • Escalate issues and find solutions to problems. 
  • Support core systems as part of the wider support team including responding to tickets according to SLA’s.
  • Be a role model, coach and support peers across development and the wider delivery team. 


Skills / Abilities

  • A qualification in a technical IT related discipline 
  • Practical experience in C#, .NET / .NET Core, SQL (TSQL), MVC / Razor, WCF services, Web API's, MS Workflow, Bootstrap, jQuery, JavaScript, Angular JS
  • Worked in an Agile/SCRUM environment 
  • Experience with AWS/Azure/Google Cloud 
  • Experience with setting up and managing infrastructure security an advantage.
  • Experience in unit testing / TDD  
  • Exposure to and keen to learn within the Cognitive Services and AI workspace  
  • Experience in Python and MySQL would be an advantage.

  • Experience of designing systems from scratch and writing code. 
  • Demonstrable competence and confidence in completing end-to-end lifecycle. 
  • Experience of integration with various third-party APIs
  • Experience of estimating and task tracking within a dev Ops / Agile environment
  • Experience of supporting and working with colleagues in sub-teams.
  • Experience of picking up innovative technologies quickly.

Please note, although the role is flexible and you can work from home as agreed in advance, it is expected that you will work from our office in Bradford on Avon at least part-time and will be required to be in the office for critical phases of project delivery.
